How to become a Verified Creator with Brave Creators Follow
Last updated: June 7, 2024
What is a verified creator?
A verified creator is someone who can receive tips and contributions in BAT (Basic Attention Token) from Brave Rewards users who visit their registered websites and channels. These creators are also eligible for monthly payouts through Brave Creators and are marked with a special blue check mark in the URL bar, indicating their verified status.
To become a "verified creator" and display the blue checkmark to Brave users, you need to:
1. Connect a Custodial Account: Connect an Uphold, Gemini, or bitFlyer account to your Brave Creators account. (See here for a list of supported regions.)
2. Connect a Self-Custody Crypto Address: Link a Solana or Ethereum crypto address to your individual sites or channels.
Note: In order to receive monthly Brave Creators payouts, which include Auto-Contribute contributions and indirect support from Brave Rewards users, you will need to connect a custodial account to your Brave Creators account.
Connecting a custodial account
Support for connecting a custodial account to your Brave Creators account varies by account provider and region. You can find the list of supported countries for each custodial account provider here.
Accounts from unsupported regions
You can still link a custodial account to your Brave Creators account even if your region is not supported. However, your registered sites/channels won't appear as verified until your region is supported. Once it is, your channels will then automatically show the verified status, saving you from needing to constantly check for updates.
