Does Brave share data with custodial partners? What does connecting my Brave Rewards profile to a custodial account provider mean for my data? Follow
Brave does not sell users’ personal data: not to advertisers, nor to anyone else.
Brave operates on the basis of minimizing data flows and storage as a core principle. We go to extreme lengths to ensure we keep only the absolute minimum of user data on our servers, and we share no data except when required to fulfill express user intent.
When you choose to connect a custodial account to your Brave Rewards profile, we receive some data from your chosen custodial account provider. Brave’s use of this data, including what kind of information we receive from the custodial partner as part of your connecting a custodial account to Brave Rewards, is detailed in our Privacy Policy.
Remember: You can use Brave without ever enabling the Brave Rewards feature, and you can use Brave Rewards without ever connecting to one of Brave's custodial account provider partners.
Sending contributions
When you make an on-demand contribution to a Brave verified creator using BAT from your linked custodial account, your custodian can see and record the details of your contribution transactions (such as, but not limited to, the amount and the recipient). This is subject to the privacy policies of your account provider.
However, when using the Auto-Contribute feature to support Brave creators with BAT from your custodial account, neither Brave nor your custodian can tell which specific creators you’re contributing to.
We never collect your browsing history or similar information, and we can’t derive this information from your contributions to content creators or sites.
