In order to withdraw your Brave Ads BAT earnings from your browser wallet, you are required to verify your browser wallet with a crypto custodian. (Verifying also lets you deposit externally-purchased BAT into your Brave Rewards balance, among other things.)
💡 Custodian: A custodian is a company that holds your BAT for you. Crypto exchanges like Uphold, Gemini, and bitFlyer, for example, are custodial partners in the Brave Rewards ecosystem.
At this time, the maximum number of Brave Rewards wallet instances you may verify or link to an Uphold account (or other custodian account) account is 4. This is a lifetime cap, which means that each connection counts toward your maximum even if a Brave installation has since been disconnected from the custodial account or uninstalled. Please note that "Brave Rewards wallet instances" refers to any Brave installation where a new browser wallet was created, including our Brave Beta, Developer, and Nightly versions, across all platforms.
- If a user downloads Brave (stable), Brave Beta, Brave Dev, and Brave Nightly on the same machine/device, opts into Rewards and verifies each version with their Uphold or other custodial account, they will have reached the lifetime cap of 4 verified browser instances.
- If a user has four devices (e.g., an Android phone, an Android tablet, a MacBook and a Windows 10 laptop), installs Brave on each of these devices, and verifies their browser wallet on each device, they will have reached the lifetime cap of four verified browser instances.
- If a user has an Android device and a Windows PC, both with Brave installed and each wallet verified, they will have used 2/4 of their lifetime connections. If the user then gets a third device, installs Brave and verifies the wallet on the new device, they will have 3/4 of their total lifetime linkage slots used, and will only be allowed one additional connection moving forward.
If you've already used up all 4 lifetime slots, you will no longer be able to verify or link additional Brave Rewards wallets to your custodian account.
What can I do about this?
We are working on improved slot management tools made available in the future for users with multiple devices, or who've lost access to a device for reasons outside of their control.
