How do I use Brave News? Follow
The Brave News reader is accessible below the new tab page and is delivered anonymously to the user’s browser via Brave’s new private content delivery network (CDN). Please see our official blog post for a full description of the feature.
How do I enable/disable Brave News?
Brave News can be enabled or disabled by clicking the Customize
button on the bottom of the New Tab Page. You can also reach this menu by going to Menu --> Settings --> New Tab Page --> Customize...
. Once enabled, you can access and read your Brave News feed on the New Tab Page by simply scrolling down:
How do I manage what content appears in my feed?
From the customize Brave News screen, you can adjust Brave News settings, add or remove content sources, channels and RSS feeds. Use the toggle at the top of this screen to enable or disable Brave News. You may also use the drop down menu to choose where you want News links to open.
Brave News comes pre-packaged with a variety of sources and websites to add to your feed (note that some of these sources will be enabled by default). Some popular choices are displayed on the front page under the "Popular" section (note that you can use the arrow to scroll to the right to view additional popular sources).
Click the View All
button to see all of the available pre-packaged sources you can add to your feed. To add or remove sources that appear in your feed, click the +
button on the source you would like to add (or the -
button to remove that source). Once added, the source will appear on the left side of the screen under "Following":
Additionally, rather than adding individual sources for News to pull content from, you can instead add Channels. Adding a "Channel" will instead pull content relevant to that Channel from a variety of the available sources. For example, adding the Sports channel will pull content from sites like ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and CBS Sports, while adding the Gaming channel will pull content from sites like IGN, Gamespot and PC Gamer. Channels can be found on the main screen of the Brave News dashboard and are added the same way as individual sources, using the +
button on the relevant Channel icon. Added Channels will also appear in the "Following" section:
Once sources/channels have been added, your feed will continue to tune itself as Brave will rank and curate content based on your source settings and browsing activity. Note that this is all done anonymously and without any of your data leaving your machine.
You may also add custom sites and RSS feeds that are not pre-packaged with Brave by using the Search bar at the top of the customize screen. Simply add a site URL or RSS address into the search bar and click on the desired result to add this content to your feed:
