Brave on iOS allows you to configure your default Shields settings as well as manage other private data the same way you can on Desktop and Android. While not required, it is recommend that you read through our Shields documentation for a more detailed explanation on what Shields is, how it functions and what options can be set as that detail will not be covered in this article.

Brave Shields & Privacy

You can find Shields and Privacy settings on the iOS application by:

1. Launching Brave, tap Menu --> Settings
2. In the Features section, tap Brave Shields & Privacy

Brave Shields Global Defaults

The top section in Brave Shields & Privacy contains options to change the default protections that Shields will use when visiting websites. Note that the default settings upon installation are intended to provide the most protection to users while causing as few conflicts with websites as possible. Adjust the settings to your needs.

Clear Private Data

The next section allows you to clear browsing data such as Browsing History, Cache and more. Simply toggle the data type you would like to clear on/off, then tap Clear Data Now. Note that this action cannot be undone.

Other Privacy Settings

The last section contains a few additional privacy and security settings that help keep you safe while browsing:

• Private Browsing Only
  Toggling this option On will tell the browser to only open private windows when the browser is launched. The browser will behave this way until the setting is toggled Off. Please see our Private Browsing section for more information on what Private windows are and how they function.
• Block Popups
  This option is set to On by default. This prevents websites from opening new browser windows/tabs without your permission. We strongly recommend keeping this option On.
• Block dangerous sites
  This option is set to On by default. This protection will reference the Google Safe browsing service (note that these connections are always proxied so that your personal/system information is never sent to Google directly) which is used to track, flag and warn a user when sites are known to be potentially malicious or harmful. We strongly recommend keeping this option On.
