How do I customize my New Tab Page? Follow
The dashboard on the New Tab Page allows you to show or hide widgets on the page, choose whether or not to display Sponsored images and more. To begin customizing your New Tab Page, click the Customize
icon on the bottom-right of the page:
Doing so will reveal the Customize Dashboard
menu with settings corresponding to different items on the page:
Background Image
The Background Image option allows you to change the appearance of the New Tab Page background. These options include:

Show background image
Use this toggle to turn background images on/off. When off, a blank gradient background will be shown with now images. -
Customize backgrounds
If you have theShow Background Image
toggled "on", you can use the four boxes to select what specific types of images you want to display on the New Tab Page:
- Use your own — Allows you to upload your own images from your desktop to display on the New Tab Page.
- Brave backgrounds — Selecting this option will display one of Brave's many hand-picked images (many submitted by users) that come pre-packaged with the browser.

Solid colors — This option will display a single solid color on the New Tab Page. Note that you can pick one color you like and have that display on every new tab, or you can toggle the
Refresh on every new tab
option "on" to display a different color at random each time you open a new tab. - Gradients — Similar to the Solid colors option, this will allow you to change the New Tab Page background to a gradient color pattern.

Show Sponsored Images
Sponsored images will appear on every fourth new tab opened. You can opt-out of seeing these sponsored images by toggling this option off. Note that sponsored images will still appear regardless of which background image option you've chosen as long as it's toggled "on".
Brave Stats
Shows/hides the Trackers & Ads Blocked
count, Bandwidth Saved
and theTime Saved
- Trackers & Ads Blocked — This tracks the amount of Trackers/Ads blocked by Shields since using your browser.
- Bandwidth Saved — This is the estimated amount of data (bandwidth) Brave has saved you while browsing.
- Time Saved — This is the estimated amount of time (in Hours/Minutes) you have saved by using Brave.
Show Top Sites
Shows/Hides the list of top site shortcuts and allows you to choose between displaying Favorites (which are top sites curated by you) or Frequently Visited (sites that auto-populate based on websites you frequently visit). Brave News
Shows/Hides Brave News on the new tab page and allows you to customize the sources Brave News pulls from. Please see How do I use Brave News? for more information on how to use and customize Brave News.
Show Clock
Shows/hides the New Tab Page clock widget and allows you to swap between 24-hour clock and 12-hour clock format.
Cards
Show/Hide individual "cards" on the stack on the new tab page and/or allows you to disable cards all together. Please see How do I Customize and Use cards on the New Tab Page? for more information on the new tab page cards.
Search
This option allows you to show/hide the search widget shown on the new tab page, as well as customize which search engine(s) you can use from the widget. Clicking the check box next to each search engine will add that engine to the list of available search engines used in the widget. Once they are selected, you can swap between the different search engines by clicking on the icon on the left-side of the widget:
