Do Private Windows make me anonymous? Follow
Using a traditional private window, like Chrome’s Incognito mode, does not make you anonymous on the internet. Private windows offer some privacy benefits, but they do not provide full anonymity.
Private windows can prevent saving your browsing history, cookies, site data, and information entered in forms during the private session. They also avoid storing files you download or pages you visit in the local cache after the session ends.
Private Windows do not:
- hide your IP address or browsing activity. Websites, internet service providers (ISP), and network administrators can still see your IP address and track your online activity.
- prevent websites from tracking you through other means, such as fingerprinting, which involves gathering information about your device and browser settings.
