How do I change site permissions? Follow
Control what content a website can show you and which data they can access to by default.
Change settings for all sites
- On your computer, open Brave.
- At the top right, click Menu
→ Settings
. - Click

. - Click the permission you want to update.
Permissions that can be changed
- Location:
By default, Brave asks you if a site can see your exact location information. - Camera:
Some sites may ask to use your camera and microphone. - Microphone:
Some sites may ask to use your camera and microphone. - Notifications:
Some websites may ask to show notifications on your computer desktop. By default, Brave asks you if a site can show notifications. - Motion sensors:
Some sites may ask to use motion sensors. By default, Brave blocks this permission. - Automatic downloads:
If you want to download multiple files from a site, choose whether to download them automatically or not. - Autoplay:
Media content on websites will ask you by default whether or not you'd like to allow Autoplay for that site. - Google Sign-In:
Some sites may ask to use legacy Google Sign-In via third-party cookies - Ethereum:
Allow or disallow sites to access to the Ethereum provider API. - Solana:
Allow or disallow sites to access to the Solana provider API. - Protocol handlers:
Brave allows external applications and web services to open certain links. For example, certain links can open a site like Gmail or a program like iTunes. If you set a default action for a type of link but want to delete it, clear your browsing data and select "Cookies and other site data. - MIDI device control & reprogram:
Some websites want to use System Exclusive (SysEx) messages to gain full access to MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) devices. - USB devices:
You can connect a website to a USB device, which lets the website control and record information from the device. Learn more about pairing Brave with USB devices. - Serial ports:Allows sites to ask to connect to serial ports.

Allows sites to ask to edit files and folders on your device. - HID devices:
Ask when a site wants to access HID (human interface device) devices. - Clipboard:
Allows sites to ask to see text and images on your clipboard. - Payment handlers:
Allows sites to ask if they can install payment handlers. - Augmented reality:
Asks when a site wants to create a 3D map of your surroundings or track camera position. - Virtual reality:
Sites can ask to use virtual reality devices and data. - Window management:
Allows sites to ask to manage windows on your displays. - Fonts:
Sites can ask to use fonts installed on your device. - Automatic picture-in-picture:
Sites can ask to enter picture-in-picture mode automatically. - Scrolling & zooming:
Sites can ask to scroll and zoom shared tabs.
Content settings
- Block cookies:

JavaScript helps make sites more interactive and rich in content. - Images:
Images are allowed by default. - Popups and redirects:
By default, pop-ups are blocked from showing up automatically. - Sound:
By default, sites will allow media content to play with sound - use this permission to allow or block specific websites from doing so. - Unsandboxed plugin access:
Some sites need plug-ins so they can let you do things like stream video or install software. By default, Brave asks you if a site's plug-in can bypass Brave's sandbox to access your computer. - Zoom levels:
You can set how much you zoom in to certain websites. Learn more about zooming in or out. - PDF documents:
By default, Brave opens PDFs in the Brave PDF viewer. To download PDFs instead of opening them, turn on Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Brave. - Protected content IDs:
Choose to let Brave play protected content. - Insecure content:
Allow or disallow secure sites that might embed content like images or web frames that aren't secure. This is blocked by default on secure sites. - On-device site data:
A site you visit can save info about what you're doing so that it works as expected — for example, to keep you signed in to a site or to save items in your shopping cart. Often sites save this info temporarily on your device. - V8 optimizer:
V8 is Brave’s JavaScript and WebAssembly engine used to improve site performance. - Automatic full screen:
Sites use this feature to enter full screen automatically. Typically, entering full screen requires user interaction.
Change settings for a specific site
You can allow or block permissions for a specific site. The site will use its settings instead of the default settings.
- On your computer, open Brave.
- Go to a website.
- To the left of the web address, click the "tune" icon.
- Click Site settings.
- Change a permission setting. Your changes will automatically save.
