How do I enable or disable automatic crash reporting? Follow
During a browser's software development process, there are often times when updating the code with new features or functionality may create new bugs in the code. These bugs can range anywhere from small, cosmetic issues like discolored text or disappearing icons to detrimental issues that cause the browser to become entirely unstable and crash.
Developers use crash reports to help diagnose what may be causing the browser to crash. Crash reports contain a variety of specific information about the state of the browser and the circumstances surrounding the crash.

You can enable or disable automatic crash reporting during the onboarding process. Note that Brave will never intentionally collect any of your user data. However, given that the purpose of the crash report is to discern the cause of a potential issue by analyzing the state of the browser at the time of the crash, some personal data may be sent as well.
What Information is Sent in a Crash Report?
The set of relevant statistics and data sent in a crash report may vary by the software itself and the company who authored it. When crash reports are sent to Brave we collect specific metadata related to your machine, including:
- Brave version: Version of Brave running at time of crash
- Brave channel: Which Brave build was used (i.e., Developer, Beta, Release)
- CPU Information: Data related to your device’s processor; model, number of cores, cpu family
- Operating System: Information about the OS used; OS Name, Version
- Date and Time signature
