Chat history is available in Brave version 1.75x and above on Desktop and Android platforms.

Leo, Brave Browser's AI assistant, now includes the ability to save and revisit your conversations. Chat History allows you to keep track of your important discussions with Leo and continue them later.

How Chat History Works

When you have a conversation with Leo, it is automatically saved locally on your device. You can:

• Access your previous conversations from any tab
• Continue earlier discussions where you left off
• Reference past answers and information
• View the web pages and content associated with your chats

Accessing Your Chat History

There are two main ways to access your saved conversations:

1. Full Page View

• Navigate to brave://leo-ai to see Leo in Full Page view
• See Browse through your chat history in the left column
• Select any conversation to view it or to continue it

2. Leo Sidebar

• Click the Leo icon in the sidebar
• Select the 3-dot menu and choose Conversation History
• Select any conversation to view it or to continue it

Privacy and Control

As with all Leo features, Brave protects your privacy when using Chat History:

• Conversations are stored locally on your device only. Conversations are not persisted on Brave’s servers.
• Conversations are not used for model training
• Chat data is encrypted when stored
• No login or account is required
• Your IP address is proxied through an anonymization server. This means that Brave cannot associate your chat with your IP address. 
• Brave does not collect identifiers that can be linked to you. 
• Chat History is not available in Incognito or Tor modes
• When you clear your browsing history, associated webpage content in your chats will also be removed

Managing Your Chat History

You can manage your saved conversations in several ways:

Deleting Chat History

To delete your chat history, you have two options:

1. Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data
   1. Select Leo Data and chat history
   2. Choose the time range
   3. Click Clear data

1. Go to Settings → Leo
   1. Click Clear Leo data to remove all conversations

Disabling Chat History

If you prefer not to save conversations:

1. Go to Settings → Leo
2. Disable Store my conversation history
