How to use Leo with Brave Talk? Follow
When the moderator of a Brave Talk call turns on transcripts, participants of the call gain dynamic access to those transcripts. Leo also follows along with the conversation, allowing instant access and recall to key points during your call. Leo can use Brave Talk call transcripts to:
- Summarize them into useful meeting notes
- Highlight key topics, decisions, and action items
- Find quotes, and consider follow-up questions
- Provides instant analysis, so you can ask questions during the meeting
- Quickly catch up if you’re late or step away
How do I use Leo with Brave Talk?
Please note that a Brave Talk Premium subscription is required to enable transcriptions in a call, allowing everyone to use Leo. Using Leo during a Brave Talk call is simple:
- A user with a Premium Talk subscription starts a Premium call
- Once the call is started, the call moderator can click the Talk "More actions" button (
...
) and selectStart Recording
:
- Here, in addition to the normal option to record audio/video, you will now see the option to
Record transcription
— ensure this option is "on" and selectStart recording
(a red icon will appear at the top of the screen for all participants, indicating the call is being recorded):
Once done, the moderator as well as call attendees can click the Leo icon () in the sidebar and ask Leo to take notes and summarize key points made during the call.
Note that, like the audio/video recordings, the transcript will also be cleared automatically after 24 hours. Until then, the moderator of the call can retrieve the final transcript and share it with others. At the end of the Talk call, a link will be generated for the Moderator to share. Additionally, you can access the transcript from the Brave Talk home page:
What does Brave Talk with Leo do with my data?
(taken from our official blog post)
Unlike other AI meeting assistants, Brave Talk with Leo doesn’t share your data with anyone. Brave and 8x8 will store call recordings and transcripts for up to 24 hours to allow time for call moderators to download them. What you say or type in the service is otherwise never logged or saved. Who you talk to, when, and how, is private to you. Furthermore, when call recordings are initiated, users are made aware of this by a voice announcement.
Brave Talk users can enable multiple layers of encryption on calls, which can prevent eavesdroppers from listening in. Brave Talk is powered by the Jitsi as a Service open-source video meeting platform from 8x8, a leading integrated cloud contact center and unified communications platform provider (NASDAQ: EGHT). 8x8 uses WebRTC open-source technology, enabling developers to embed HD video directly into the browser.
As for Leo’s privacy protections, Leo hides IP addresses using a reverse proxy, so requests cannot be linked to a user. Conversations are not persisted on Brave’s servers or used for model training. No personal data is retained by Brave-hosted AI models (though if you select the Anthropic model, Leo queries will be processed by Anthropic for a period of 30 days, then deleted). No login or account is required for access, and Leo Premium subscriptions are unlinkable to the user.
